As visiting EU Erasmus Mundus scholar, Tony Maniaty addressed the Danish School of Media and Journalism in Aarhus on 22 September 2009 about the increasing danger of frontline reporting over the past three decades. On 21 September 2009, Tony Maniaty introduced ABC TV's Australian Story, which profiled the work of his friend Australian army major Michael Stone, national security adviser to East Timor's then president, Jose Ramos-Horta.
